This 440 square metre town house dates back to the 15th Century and no expense has been spared in refurbishing and restoring the house to make it one of the finest homes in Paris. The house sleeps up to 10 people in luxury or double rooms can be rented on an individual basis.

The house is listed as a private hotel and has the unique attraction of being available for a whole house rental or individual room rental as a bed and breakfast and serves as a very special venue for business meetings, weddings and special events.

You will marvel at the collection of splendid antiques, furnishings and artworks on display in this most beautiful and unique property. Tattler Magazine in fact listed the property in their "101 Best Hotels in the World" for 2009.

You enter the house through an ancient panelled corridor that leads to the elevator and main entrance hall. The entrance hall gets its light from the glass floor above the atrium and it has two 17th Century fireplaces and a 15th Century stone floor. From this entrance you can enter the 15th Century vaulted cellars where the dining room is located, seating 14 people.

The elevator takes you to the superbly furnished bedrooms located on each floor of the building. All windows are double glazed with two sets of double curtains to completely black out each room.

The house is air-conditioned and has central heating throughout and is a few doors down from the oldest house in Paris, the Auberge Nicolas Flamel which was built in 1407 by the Chemist that inspired J.K Rowling's Harry Potter and is now a highly regarded restaurant.

Location

Situated on Rue de Montmorency in Paris's Marais district, just two blocks north of the Centre Georges Pompidou in the historic 3rd Arrondissement.

BEDROOMS

Studio

This bedroom is situated on the ground floor and has a 17th Century floor to ceiling fire place with a four poster 17th Century double bed and antique furnishings. The walls are upholstered in red velvet and the mahogany-panelled bathroom has a bathtub and shower stall.

Velvet

The Velvet Room is situated on the 3rd floor with 17th Century terra cotta tiles and a 17th Century fire place. There is a 19th Century four poster double bed and the walls are upholstered in burgundy velvet. The room has a collection of fine antiques and the mahogany bathroom has a bathtub. The elevator enters the room directly.

Elephant

The Elephant room is situated on the 4th floor and has a floor to ceiling 18th Century stone fireplace and antique furnishings. Brunswick elephant-themed fabric adorns the walls and there are twin beds which can be also used as a double. The mahogany bathroom has a bath and a shower stall.

Celadon

Situated on the 5th floor, this room has its own private stair case with a small planted terrace, antique furnishings, a 17th Century stone fire place and 17th Century terracotta tiled floor. Twin beds can be made into a double and the mahogany bathroom has a bath and shower stall.

Venetian

The Venetian room has a double four poster 18th Century bed and antique furnishings. The room has no windows as it is bricked into the next house - one of only three such cases in medieval Paris.

It has two painted 18th Century Venetian doors that open onto the atrium that is flooded with light. There is a floor to ceiling 17th Century stone fireplace, Bevilacqua fabric on the walls with 18th Century slate and tile flooring. The mahogany bathroom has a bathtub.

This room is only available as part of the rental for the whole house and is not available as a bed and breakfast room.

Metro

The closest metro stations are Etienne Marcel (Line 4) and Rambuteau (Line 11).

Cafés, Restaurants & Shopping

The house is surrounded by a wide variety of restaurants.

The exciting and classy George's restaurant in the Centre Georges Pompidou is well recommended for a special occasion, as is the historic Auberge Nicolas Flamel located just a couple of doors away.

The excellent Ambassade d'Auvergne close by at Rue du Grenier Sainte-Lazare is highly regarded by locals.

There is a handy Boulangerie/Patisserie close by at the corner of Rue St Martin and Rue de Montmorency.
